Google’s vice president Caesar Sengupta resigns after 15 years with the company 

Since 2018, the Singapore-based executive Caesar Sengupta has served as Google’s vice president and general manager of payments and the Next Billion Users initiative. The 30th of April will be his last day at the tech giant.

In his LinkedIn post, Caesar Sengupta, vice president and general manager of payments and the ‘Next Billion Users’ initiative, said

 “I remain very positive about Google’s future but it’s time for me to see if I can ride without training wheels” .

Caesar Sengupta oversaw Google’s investments in Gojek, Glance, Dunzo, and Reliance, all of which are headquartered in India.

He was a key figure in the launch and success of Google Pay in India, as well as the relaunch of the payment app in the United States and Singapore. 

Over 150 million people in 30 countries currently use the billing service.

Besides Google Pay he also helped to develop company initiatives like Chrome OS and Next Billion Users, among others, and he predicts that by 2025, an extra billion people will be using the internet for the first time.

About Caesar Sengupta’s decision to resign, a Google spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

“…Through his time at Google, Caesar has played a key role in starting, building and leading initiatives such as ChromeOS, Next Billion Users and Google Pay. We are excited to see what he builds next and wish him the best in his new journey,”
