Jeff Bezos Net Worth: World’s First 200 Billion Dollars Man

W

ho doesn’t know Jeff Bezos! He is mostly known for being the founder and CEO of Giant Multinational Company “Amazon.” He has always been on the front page for making profits in business. But even in a pathological year like 2020, everyone’s taking his name for being the first entrepreneur ever to worth more than 200 billion dollars.

In the history of entrepreneurship and even in the world, he’s the first man to have assets of $200 Billion. On 26th August 2020,  Jeff Bezos net worth crossed the $200 billion mark. The Bloomberg Billionaire Index has confirmed the news. People are now labeling this news as “Rich gets Richer!”

Along with Bezos, the tech business tycoons – Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Inc. and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook are also in the news for joining the $100 Billion Club and being “Centibillionaires” with having $101 Billion and $100 Billion respectively.

Coming back to Jeff Bezos, who was already known as the world’s richest man since 2018, his wealth has now reached an estimate of $204.6 billion. Though till last month, the amount was $172 billion.

He is now 90 billion dollars richer than Bill Gates, who is the second richest man in the world. Bill Gates currently worth $116.1 billion. (Till 26th August 2020)

Most of Bezos’s wealth (nearly 11%) is tied up in Amazon for which the performance of the company directly influences his net worth. According to data from Refinitiv, since January, the company’s shares are up about $87 Billion. In the last three months, the company’s stock is up about 25% and 86% so far this year.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been staying at home and buying products online. That has added to the market capitalization of Amazon which is now valued at $1.7 trillion. So it can be seen that Amazon has nearly doubled Jeff Bezos’s net worth.

Bezos and his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott announced their divorce last year. Owning to this divorce, Bezos’s ex-wife acquired a quarter of their joint shares, equating to a 4% stake in the company “Amazon”. But later she donated the amount to encourage the world’s richest people to donate their unnecessary wealth as a charity.

With this pure intention, MacKenzie Scott had signed the Giving Pledge. This initiative was started by the world’s other three richest people, Bill Gates and Melina Gates along with Warren Buffett. According to Bloomberg Index, Scott is still possessing wealth worth more than $65 Billion as currently, she’s the 14th richest person and the 2nd richest woman in the world.

Whatever, it is assumed that Bezos would possess a wealth of more than $250 billion if this divorce had not happened. Even after the divorce happened, Bezos’s net worth was $131 billion and he was the richest man in 2019.

Amazon is Bezos’s biggest asset, but apart from it, he owns the space travel company named “Blue Origin.” He founded it in 2000. He also owns “The Washington Post Newspaper,” which he acquired in 2013.

Jeff Bezos, the owner of billions today, has faced many difficulties in life. Long time back, he was even cash strapped which many people don’t know nowadays. He never had the love of his parents.

When his father Ted Jorgensen left at his age of 4, his mother Jacklyn (nee Gise) remarried. His title at first was “Jorgensen” and later got the title “Bezos” from his stepfather Mike Bezos.

Without having the passion of being an Entrepreneur, he could never be what he is today. His luck started favoring him after he had founded Amazon in 1994. Today, he’s the richest man in the world, along with being one of the best entrepreneurs and investors.

In 1986, after completing graduation from Princeton University, he started working in the Computer Science Field. Before founding Amazon, he had worked for a building network in a fintech telecommunications company named Fittel

Jeff Bezos said in an interview that he has always liked the positivistic people in case of employment. Their performance was praiseworthy for having continuity. He thinks this quality of employees is needed for any company to march forward. Also, being an employee-lover boss, he tries to spend most of the time of a day with his employees.

In 2018, during an interview at the Economic Club Washington D.C., Jeff Bezos said that “All of my best decisions in business and life have been made with heart, intuition, guts – not [with] analysis.” He added, “When you can decide with analysis,  you should do so, but it turns out in life that your most important decisions are always made with instinct, intuition, taste, heart.”

Last but not least, Bezos is a challenging lover person and loves those people who like to take challenges in life without any hesitation. Maybe that’s the secret reason why he has reached this height today by being the richest man in the world!
