Winner of She Loves Tech Bangladesh 2020 Has Been Announced

ince the online registration of She Loves Tech 2020 BD started in July, everyone was very eager to know which startup is going to be the winner of She Loves Tech Bangladesh this year and going to present Bangladesh on the international platform. Finally, this waiting came to an end yesterday, and Cookups has been announced as the winner of She Loves Tech 2020 BD.

The Pitch Round of She Loves Tech in Bangladesh happened virtually on 25th October 2020, due to COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh. Though this grand event was held online, people enthusiastically joined the event through the Facebook Live option and cheered up for the finalists of She Loves Tech 2020 BD

Yesterday, She Loves Tech’s regional partner in Bangladesh, Turtle Venture, announced the winner of She Loves Tech 2020 BD through their Facebook Page. Along with the Turtle Venture’s Facebook Page, this whole program was also telecast live on the official Facebook page of She Loves Tech

Cookups, competing with other nine finalists of She Loves Tech Bangladesh 2020, and 62 other women-led startups of Bangladesh, which participated in the She Loves Tech Bangladesh 2020, became the winner and will be attending the grand finale of She Loves Tech in November 2020.

The online event for selecting the winner of She Loves Tech 2020 BD took place on this Sunday where Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the State Minister of ICT Division in Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest. The special guest of this significant event was the Managing Director & CEO of Startup Bangladesh, Tina F. Jabeen.

Saraban Tahura Turin, the Country Ambassador of She Loves Tech in Bangladesh, and the CEO of Turtle Venture was co-ordinating the whole virtual pitch round which happened between 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Tamannah M Afrose and Afrin Kamal, two business executives of Turtle Venture hosted the Virtual Pitch Round of She Loves Tech Bangladesh 2020.

Around 2:30 pm, the Cookups was declared as the winner of She Loves Tech Bangladesh 2020 by the judges and the guests. This popular Bangladeshi startup focuses on delivering nearest available homemade foods to the food lovers of Bangladesh. That’s why foodies of Bangladesh are immensely in love with this newly founded food delivery services providing startup

Apart from buying homemade foods, this startup also provides opportunities for a person to sell his/her homemade foods through Cookups by being a registered member, spending 1000 BDT only.

Judges who were present to select the winner of She Loves Tech 2020 BD by observing the pitches of all the finalist startups are –

  • Asif Uddin Ahmed – Acting Director of EMK Center
  • Bijon Islam – CEO of LightCastle Partners
  • Salsalbeel Khan – Investment Associate of Anchorless Bangladesh 
  • Fayez Ahmed – Coordinator and Consultant of Youth Programme and Youth Co: Lab, UNDP Bangladesh.

The whole event of the Pitch Round of She Loves Tech Bangladesh 2020 was supported by the ICT Division of Bangladesh and Startup Bangladesh. Senoark, Mechanic কই?, Learning 101, Startup Chattogram, DHAKA CAST, Women in Digital, YOUTH HUB, UNDP Youth Co: Lab, EMK Center, and the LightCastle Partners were also the supporting partners of this event.

With the Cookups as the winner, the other top four winners are – Teek Taka, Wander Woman, Bonton Connect and BeshiDeshi. These startups will have benefits of attending a six-months-long mentorship program and a six-weeks-long readiness investment. 

Startups from Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, North & South America will be giving each other tough competition in the global round of She Loves Tech 2020 to win an equity-free cash prize of US$15,000, which will be coming from SLT Affiliate Fund

Winners will also win over investment from Teja Ventures, in-house advisory services, and special media and mentorship prizes along with getting fast track access to many accelerator programs and partner funds.

So, this year Cookups will be representing Bangladesh and competing with the best startups from more than 30 countries around the world on the International Platform of She Loves Tech 2020. People will now have their eyes on Cookups to check out if they can be the global winner of She Loves Tech 2020, the largest startup competition or not.
