echnology has now brought the world closer. Zoom cloud meetings has surely contributed a lot in this field. Zoom Video Communications, in short Zoom, is American communication technology.
The founder of this excellent software company is Eric Yuan, who founded the company on 21st April 2011. Some experienced leaders and engineers from Cisco and WebEx associated him with founding this wonderful software. Each founding engineer has experience in real-time collaboration software for more than 10 years. The head office of Zoom is situated in San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, West Coast.
Zoom is known worldwide for providing an easy and reliable cloud platform, though most people know Zoom as a very popular video conferencing tool. It has both desktop and mobile device versions which allow the users to meet online. Besides video, people can also be connected by sharing voice, chat, and content while using the Zoom app.
Even a person who is recognizing technology newly can easily use the Zoom app. Because of Zoom, you can share your ideas about projects with your desired people by sharing screen, voice and video. Isn’t it amazing to get so many services in just one app?
ZOOM Support During COVID-19 Pandemic
Anyway, owning to this app, businesses, and organizations can happily bring their teams together in a frictionless environment. Zoom has been using a slogan since COVID-19 stroke –
“Keeping you securely connected wherever you are”.
Because of the pandemic COVID-19, “Work from home” has been a hot topic, which has shown results by making Zoom more popular. Statistics show that Zoom has been downloaded 55,236,561 times during the last 30 days which clearly predicts the popularity of this app in recent days. These statistics definitely proves that Zoom has gathered huge popularity within no time.
Millions of people from every corner of the world have been using Zoom. And that’s why Zoom has been ranked in the number one position by customer’s reviews recently. According to an estimate, Zoom earned more users in 2020 than they had earned in the last 9 years since founding.
Seems like COVID-19 has made a remarkable change in the number of users of Zoom. Times of India reported that now Zoom has 190 million regular users whereas, in December, the number was only 10 million.
The popularity of Zoom in Bangladesh
Zoom has been a popular video communication service throughout the world since it was founded in 2011. But it got popularity in Bangladesh because of the pandemic COVID-19. People have to work from home and students have to join online classes. Zoom has become a blessing in their life.
Zoom is now the office, the classroom. People have been adjusting to taking meetings through webcams. Just like other countries, Zoom changed the lifestyles of modern people in Bangladesh.
A teacher named Tanisha Ahmed, from an English Medium School said that,
“Since the beginning of the lockdown, we have been holding virtual classes with our students via Zoom…and most importantly, it has the option to put everyone in a single frame, as it has the capability to cater more people at once in both phone and computer.”
I guess her opinion makes everything crystal clear why Zoom is so popular in Bangladesh.
The process of screen sharing has given a touch to the app just like a Classroom. Zoom has easy compatibility with every browser like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and more. Zoom provides people with uninterrupted awesome quality video calls. Probably that’s why people of Bangladesh have accepted this software wholeheartedly.

Controversy about Zoom
In March 2020, there were rumors about Zoom not being secure enough. An issue named “Zoom-bombing” popped up which means intruder presence of unusual and inappropriate content during Zoom Meetings. Many countries like India, Germany, Taiwan marked this application as “Not Safe”.
Even New York State Attorney General Letitia James launched an inquiry into Zoom’s privacy and security practices. But later in May 2020, the inquiry was closed.
Zoom didn’t agree that they had wrongdoings in their security system but agreed to add to their security measures. The Federal Trade Commission also announced in May 2020 that it was looking into Zoom’s privacy practices.
The company is always trying to make this software more and more useful in different ways by adding different kinds of features. So let’s hope that their efforts won’t go in vain and ZOOM cloud meetings will make our lives easier during this pandemic.
